We’re not ones for gloating, but when our Chief Scientist, Thom Chin, made Computerworld’s Top 40 under 40 list, we were pretty excited.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Thom since 1996, and given the number of all-nighters and long days we’ve spent at the office, we’ve calculated that we’ve spent more time together in the same room than anyone else in our lives. I’m not quite sure if that’s a good thing, but it has allowed us to make some pretty cool stuff in the past — and Thom’s still got a few tricks up his sleeves.

So here’s to the nerdiest guy I know. Congratulations on an accolade well-earned.

Incidentally, the photo above was taken circa 1997 with my first digital camera, an Olympus point and shoot that did 640×480. Ten years later, he’s still wearing t-shirt and jeans to the office.
