Culture Collision: Gawker and LaChappelle and Flickr

gawker.jpg

Gawker founder Nick Denton himself posted Gawker's picture of the day today; looks like he got it from a flickr pool of "found imagery". Funny thing is, it's a picture by David LaChappelle, from his series Recollections in America. We can see how the mistake could be made; we posted about this hilarious image way back when and asked you to name the photographer.

Amusing though, that this LaChappelle image now has a creative commons license.

But never mind that, let's get that Orphan Works Bill passed. Surely this is an isolated incident.

I don't think that word means what you think it means...

still waiting ;)

I have since attributed the proper artist for this work. I found it linked from a friend's site, but did not know where the image came from. Good to know that there are other works by this artist - I intend to see them if I can!

v cool. no malice meant by the post, only hilarity. because how can those images warrant anything else, really?
