(No, the title isn’t a typo, it’s wit!)

It may surprise you to know that a large portion of our staff studied photography in college. And even those who didn’t  seem to be pretty passionate about the craft.

I put out an open call to the staff the other week to send me a few pics, so I could show you that 1) we’re photographers just like you, and 2) there is a tremendous diversity of style and vision within our own staff. So a little sampling of the shots we’ve made away from PhotoShelter.

Jason is a co-founder, and he’s previously shot for Sports Illustrated, SLAM, a thousand other magazines.

Here’s the hip hop group Dead Prez (Yes, shot on film):

And Cleveland Cavalier Larry Hughes (ah, Polaroid. We hardly knew you):

Ruby works in Client Services and always has a camera in hand when we go out (i.e. lots of pictures of us having drinks). But life was full of film back at photo school.

Atif is a photo editor and photographer. He was raised in Brooklyn, and a image of him appears in a photo book about Brooklyn families (he showed me at the New York Photo Festival).

Everyone knows Grover. Seriously. But I think that’s partially because he’s hard to forget. Grover shot at various newspapers in New York and the midwest for many years before catching the early wave with CD-ROMs in the early 90s and the Internet in the late 90s. He’s also embraced video unlike most of us….

Bridget pounds the phones and e-mail everyday selling your images, but you wouldn’t know it from her quiet pictures.

And while Bridget is pounding the phones, Erin is helping out in Photo Research.

Peter is one of our star engineers, and he sent me a photo of myself wearing a paper bag on my head like the unknown comic. I refrained from posting that picture.

Mike told me that he had no images that he had shot recently that he liked. But Mike is tough on himself because he shot for the Asbury Park Press for years and years, and has tons of cool stuff like Bruce Springsteen.

And then there’s me.

(no silly, the kid is not me)

Rachel “The Glove” Hulin forgot to send me her pics. But she has her own blog, so we’ll let it slide for now.

We still have more staff with more pics, so we’ll catch ya on the flip side! And like Casey Kasem said, “Keep shootin’ for the stars!”

PS. Which images were shot on Nikon and which were shot on Canon? Can’t tell? See, it doesn’t make a difference!
