Big. Too big, sometimes...
Nikon D40 + Nikkor 18-200mm VR - most of the time.
Nikon D70s + Nikkor 135mm f/2 DC + crappy iTTL flash - only for portraits and parties indoors.
"weekend gear"? should it be different from other times of the week? I work every day so my gear is the same on any given day... I carry just about all my stuff in my van with me so I'm ready for just about any circumstance... I guess you can call that heavy... Canon 1Ds MkII, various lenses (mostly zooms) from 17mm to 500mm, multiple tripods, some flash equipment, laptop, spare laptop, filters, memory cards and all sorts of accessories, food, sleeping bags, and such in case I stay out longer than one day. It's all ready in my van - I just have to get dressed kiss the wife, pet the dog, feed and water the llamas and go...
Peace
ps I forgot, also my 'pocket pal' Canon G9 for grab shots ('have sold a couple book covers and a magazine cover with my various 'pocket pals' so I consider them as a don't leave home without it item.)
Because of back issues I've reverted back to small primes. Weekend pack is a D200 with old primes, 24mm 2.8, 35mm 2 and AF 50 1.8 along with a tiny Flip Mino.
Pro pack is the same D200, 19-35, 28-70 and 75-300 Tokina and Nikkor lenses and the same primes as above with SB 600, SB 28 and if needed, a few Vivitars, 2 lightstands, umbrellas, gels, snoots and various bits and pieces and the wee Flip (just for the hell of it).
Looking forward to the rumored D10. Might also pick up some pocket wizards soon, if I can ever sell anything here at PhotoShelter.
I like to roll light on weekends - D50, 17-55mm f2.8, Slingbag, bottle of water, energy bars, bus pass - and I can keep my self entertained all weekend.
I always have everything need in the event of a disaster. Ice chest, flashlight, camera bodies, extra batteries, clean clothes, socks, cotton sheet, rain poncho, clip board, pencils, crackers, case of bottled water, ipod, digital audio recorder, magnifying glass (old style) in the event I ever have to create a fire to eat, matches work too but if they get wet your screwed, ziploc bags, laundry soap.
It's basically a mini emergency house on wheels with all my professional gear and laptop with WiFi locator. Oh and the passport too!
I am going to NYC next week as well as a couple of nights in Boston so I am getting my gear ready for the trip.
Lots of shooting planned.
This is my bag so far.

-Hasselblad 150mm CFI lens
-Pentax Digital Spot Meter
-Minolta Autometer IV

I usually just go with my every day gear, unless I go on a photo mission of sorts.
contax g1 w/35mm lens and some film. b&w & color... 400iso.
If I go on the said, "photo missions," i'm usually bringing a hasselblad 501cm w/80mm lens. film. Then I might also bring a Nikon D3 with a 50mm & 17-35mm lenses.
At the least I carry a Nikon D70 with a 28mm 2.8 -- that's just to walk out front and pick up the morning paper. I usually carry the D70 with a 28-70mm 2.8 when I'm out and about. In my old age, I'm finally learning to keep things to a minimum, but sometimes find myself carry five lenses, three speedlights, Sekonic light meter, and so forth.
Contax T3 in my back pocket everyday...
Other stuff varies.... Contax G2, Fuji GA645, Hasselblad
As a photographer your only limit to your talents is your imagination. Meaning you can go BIG, medium, small and petite. A photographer makes the camera; not the other way around. Normally when you are not sure of yourself you end-up carrying more than what you need. Allot of equipment doesn’t make you a professional; the question should be “how do I handle this assignment with what I currently have at hand?” So how do I go? I’ll let you figure that out. I can go on for ever on this subject.
This weekend, it was heavy...

and of course I ended up using just the two bodies with with two lenses.
