Vanity Fair's Bright Young Thangs

It's that time again; VF is bringing us the Hollywood class of 2008! Holy Emma Roberts, we're excited.

The only slightly depressing thing about this issue is that it makes me feel very, very old. At least half these folks were BORN IN THE NINETIES.

Mark Seliger shot the seven images in the main piece; I find some very successful, some a little less so. Let's look at them in order of appearance, shall we?

Amanda Seyfried, Emma Roberts, Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart

From the Q&A
VF: Favorite Designer?
Amanda Seyfried: Miu Miu. I can't afford it."

liar.

Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Zoe Kravitz, Emma Stone, Olivia Thirlby

Officially the cutest bunch. The best kids always climb trees.

cusl03_nextwave0808.jpg
Jessica Szohr, Penn Badgley, Blake Lively, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick, Leighton Meester, Taylor Momsen

Ok, obviously I'm pleased that GG got it's own spread, but I don't feel that B. Lively needed to be represented twice. And she's been hanging on real-life boyfriend Penn Badgley a little too much lately, IMHO. Do you think there's real swill in the Veuve Clicquot bottle? Better keep that away from little (15! y-o) Momsen. She's already in trouble:

From the Q&A
VF: Favorite TV show?
Taylor Momsen: "Law & Order: SVU. I can watch like six in a row, and my mom's like, 'You just watched six rape stories' "

eek!

cusl04_nextwave0808.jpg
Jay Baruchel, Kat Dennings

Um, I don't really know who you are, but I like the picture. Baruchel is the oldest of all of these folks, at a weathered 26.

cusl05_nextwave0808.jpg
Kevin Jonas, Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas

I hear these guys are the new Hanson. Not that Hanson ever went away, mind you.
(This picture was one of the very best things I ever did at Rollingstone.com).

Yeah, that's AWK and Taylor H. How's that for cred?

cusl06_nextwave0808.jpg
Rob Brown, Michael Angarano, Summer Bishil, Hunter Parrish, Josh Peck

You are all strangers to me. Your consolation prize is to have the coolest picture. Ciao Ciao.

cusl07_nextwave0808.jpg
Rachael Taylor, Jonah Hill, Amber Heard

I pretty much devised this whole post just to discuss this picture. Which I find extremely embarrassing. For sort of all involved. Maybe most for Amber.

No, probably Jonah.

At least he keeps it real in the Q&A.

VF: Chuck Taylors or Nikes?
Jonah Hill: "I'll give New Balance a shout-out. Hopefully they'll send me some free shit."

As usual, we have fun with the Vanity Fair. Check their website for the good outtakes and videos and such.

And check back tomorrow for some double-dipping; we'll be chatting with photographer Cameron Davidson to see how he made these beautiful aerial images of the Hamptons.

Thanks for letting me go all Perez on ya.

Stow it with the "I'm old" comments, girlie. :)

I am so far out of It that the light leaving It will not reach me for several years. I don't know who ANY of those people are. Except those Jonas boys, and that's only because of the obnoxious commercials for their movie thing.

And I don't find that last picture embarrassing. I find it incredibly depressing. I have never, ever had girls draped on me like that and, absent becoming much richer than I am ever likely to be, I never will. As they say, I'd rather be lucky than good.

Confused by your best thing at Rollingstone.com ... the link came to a pic by Hal Horowitz ... ?

ugh, that jonah hill picture is gross, just gross. poor girls. makes me think of that awful tom ford vf that was all naked girls and male egos. 'cept i think they lowered the age bar here to pre-adolescent. blech.
