We got word earlier today that legendary rock and roll photographer Jim Marshall died last night at age 74. He died in his sleep, at the W Hotel in New York City.

I first met Jim in his home in San Francisco, filled wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling with historic prints – each with its own incredible behind-the-scenes story to tell.

These pictures were taken during that first visit.

RIP, Jim. You will be missed.

Grover, thanks so much for posting this. I was quite moved by the news of Jim’s passing yesterday. He remains a legendary figure in rock’n’roll with an astonishing body of work. Through his photos, Jim will continue to be a source of inspiration for so many. He will be dearly missed.
