Thank you for another wonderful article. It's so good to be able to glean editors' "pain points" and to know how many of these involve simple fundamentals like courtesy, work ethic, and communication. This and the previous article are a big help while I'm working on the 2013 Photo Business Plan Workbook.

Isn't this just general kindness and respect. Photographers aren't some mystery and photo editors aren't on a pedestal. I believe everyone of these points could be directed the other way around as well. And giving a gift and saying thank you to your waiter, assistant, and the guy that delivers your food, or myself would be well received as well.

Thank you for the Tips. I can't say enough about the importance of saying thank you. A quick small thank you card is always a plus.

Interesting indeed, especially together with the previous article. I must agree that most positive tips are just basic manners, whether you are working with a photoeditor, your boss, your assistant, the woman selling fruit on the street or the bus driver. One thing I hoped would be stressed more (but we do not know all the answers of everybody, so maybe there is some selective editing) is "Shoot Great Photos". I assume that this will beat a 'brownie' every day or is that too simple? Anyway, the editors must have an interesting job, with the mix of incoming wonderful creativity vs the bad stuff they undoubtedly have to endure, thanks for the article. Best regards from the road (currently cycling & shooting from Alaska - Argentina), Harry

These were intriguing posts -- captivating enough to distract me as I keep an editor waiting... I am choosing to read into some of the disgruntled comments a general dismay with the editorial photography market. I feel your pain. But photo editors can be some of our best allies in standing up for the value of our work. If we play nice...

Thank you for a useful article. Although most of these are basics for good business, some may go unnoticed by busy photographers.

I am shocked that some of these things show up here. Use deodorant?? Say Thank You?? do your homework?? (aka "get it") Think for yourselves? Dress appropriately? Maybe it's just me, but isn't that something that refelects MANNERS?? and work attitude? I am suprised people who fail to do that actually get ANY assignments! *shakinghead* Tom

I have to wonder why you rounded up this particular bunch? "Be nice to me when I have to cancel our meeting for the third time. I feel TERRIBLE when I have to do that." Gosh, really? Send gifts? I'm a Photo Director who hates getting gifts from photographers- I hope this post is not taken too seriously by photographers.
