9 Cool Examples of Photographer Self-Portraits
It isn’t very common for photographers to find themselves on the other side of the camera. But every artist deserves to have their own self portrait, right?
I was curious to see what types of cool self-portraits have been made by PhotoShelter members. I performed a quick search and found many creative images.
Here are 9 that I really like (including 1 that’s a little weird/funny – I’m sure you can figure out which one) – all found within the PhotoShelter community.
Self portrait, Light Painting by Jérôme Berbigier.
Self Portrait. Mirror by Matthew B. Slaby.
Self Portrait by Quinn Ryan Mattingly.
Project 365: 258/365 – For Fun by Paul R. Giunta.
Self Portrait by Benny Voodoo.
Scuba Diver Self-Portrait by Paul Souders.
Self-Portrait at Midnight by John MacDonald.
Self portrait while photographing in Grand Teton National Park, WY by Justin Bailie.
Exhibition Emerging Slovenia in Host gallery by Borut Peterlin.

I often shoot myself when running out of much more interesting things to shoot like the dog for instance. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=293852&id=663463899#!/photo.php?fbid=486082533899&set=a.486082458899.293852.663463899&pid=6932010&id=663463899 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=293852&id=663463899#!/photo.php?fbid=417790878899&set=t.663463899 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=293852&id=663463899#!/photo.php?fbid=167945613899&set=t.663463899 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=293852&id=663463899#!/photo.php?fbid=167942333899&set=t.663463899 Narcissist that I am
Here is one I shot a few years ago when I still had hair! I use it mostly as my avatar on music forums. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4032/4708225456_7e4850692e.jpg

Howdy, I am often the only one present when making a photograph that needs a model… Here’re some self portraits that I’ve posted in my photo blog where I’ve been posting regularly nine years. http://bit.ly/EdBookSelfPortrait Peace, Ed Book http://edbookphoto.com
Here’s mine, self portrait as Yuri Gagarin (first man in space) http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KZs1jhCRYaY/TD-s1AR888I/AAAAAAAAAWg/alrEDjkCF4U/s1600/Konstantin-Golovchinsky.jpg
Here’s mine as well. Hope it cuts the mustard!
I had submitted mine yesterday but they never appeared on the site. So here is another try. Some self-portraits I have done over the past few months and as you can tell, I tend not to take myself too seriously… http://www.flickr.com/photos/joshfassbind/4683365102/ — one happy geek http://www.flickr.com/photos/joshfassbind/4699708853/ — i feel puzzled http://www.flickr.com/photos/joshfassbind/4671651331/ — dr jekyll & mr. hyde http://www.flickr.com/photos/joshfassbind/4588869819/ — where is julia child when you need her?
Here is one I took years ago in school… before I started going bald. http://patrickcavanbrown.photoshelter.com/img-show/I00008Nj37YcJYTc
This is a very good idea- you could open this up to all photographers to do their self portrait and run as a competition. Like the fact that it is not commercial and will allow creative ideas to flow- Grant
Every time I go to the Met, I love to shoot self-portraits on the roof terrace. Here’s my first self-portrait, in the reflection of a Jeff Koons sculpture: http://www.eyeforstyle.net/image/I0000ECjZjhPCkgM Here’s my second attempt, with the Roxy Paine metal branch sculpture reflected behind me: http://www.eyeforstyle.net/image/I00001RCKkvaYtCQ
Here’s a shot I took this fall while fishing and camping in northern Idaho. My Nikon was mounted on a tripod and set with a 30 second time exposure; I held and tripped the flash three times from three physical locations to get all the images in one picture. http://davecolby.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/Portrait-Individual/G0000CCe2wDb4VPo/I0000KF9IPsPnA9A Best, Dave

Late to the party, but here’s my most recent one. Oddly, I like self portraits, but not showing my face in them. A good creative challenge to shoot that can be pretty fun. http://www.flickr.com/photos/emasterphoto/4588081697/in/set-72157615104644463/
When I see a reflective surface there’s a good possibility I will take a picture in it. Three of my favorites: http://www.flickr.com/photos/theubersquid/4475641476/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/theubersquid/4439335800/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/theubersquid/4475609796/
