I agree with Troy, this was very vague. I think many photogs these days don't like to give out too much information, because of so much competition, and that is fine, but then there is really no point to being interviewed for a blog post.

Recently returning to photography as a passion, after a hiatus from the wedding photography world with heavy Bronica's and film, I liked Leland's simple approach.

Less is more. His images are striking and not much processing utilized.

Troy: Any other occupation would not require you to "see the light" or to be quite and experience where you are to realize the true essence of a place in order to captivate our audience.

Gus: These post production processes are important but to the extent of creating your own style. They are tools to use for your own expression and there really is no set way to use them. That said there are basic functions that help us so we can get into our own view. Let me know if you have specific questions.

The easy part is having the right equipment, setting the ISO and taking the shot. My complaint from my observation is that almost no one tells you how they are processing the images later in Photoshop or Lightroom. This is the biggest and most challenging part. So please, if you know someone who explains in detail how to use PS or LR in post processing, let me know.

The title of this story is very misleading, Leland talks in such vague and general terms that you can insert any occupation and it would apply. The answer to the title can be summed up with his statement "The only things I see as key are dedication, passion, study and decades of hard work.”

wow! I've never heard that before.
