Video Recording: How To Streamline Your Digital Workflow From Camera to Delivery

Freelance travel photographer Gavin Gough has spent years fine-tuning his digital workflow. While he (and many photographers) love the flexibility and immediateness that digital offers, he doesn’t enjoy spending hours in front of the computer. To help streamline his workflow, Gavin developed an amazing system in Lightroom that employs Smart Collections and Development Presets to cut your editing time in half.

Now Gavin has created a specialty ebook that outlines his pro workflow, and includes the Smart Collections and Presets so you don’t have to recreate them. If you’re still not sold, check out the video below – we co-sponsored a webinar with X-Rite so that Gavin could share his workflow tips firsthand.

It’s a great introduction to how you can successfully use Lightroom and other pro tools to shorten the time from capture in-camera to final delivery. Whether you’re shooting for your personal portfolio or a client, these are these are the workflow steps you need to make life easier.

We go over several key concepts in this webinar, including 1) Data Management and Risk Analysis, 2) Flags, Ratings, and Labels in Lightroom, 3) Color Management, 4) The Pro Workflow using Smart Collections, and 5) Image Processing.

Gavin’s complete ebook includes 10 steps, as well as:

  • 65 Lightroom Development Presets to help give your processing a more consistent linear structure (for Lightroom 4 or 5)
  • A series of Lightroom Smart Collections which build a step-by-step workflow for managing digital photographs
  • Links to a series of free, online video tutorials

The Photographer’s Workflow by Gavin Gough is $30 for all the above – download your copy here.

    Hi Photoshelter !

Thanx for this video, great content !
Noticed that Gavin has 8 “featured” galleries/collections on his Marquee frontpage.
I’m on Marquee as well but it seems I only can feature 5, am I missing something ?

Yeah Gavin, you are the first person I have heard that insists on step 1 of LR to be Camera Calibration. People assume that since it is on the bottom of the list it should be the last. Maybe LR is making a big mistake not placing it first.

Kind of strange that the cover of his book is an image which is taken almost exactly the same way compositionally as Joey L’s portrait of Baba Vijay Nund on the Ganges River. It’s even in the exact same place. That’s just blatant plagiarism. You guys can do better than this.
