Friday Happy Hour: PicsaStock Licenses your Smart Phone Photos & The Facial Reactions to True Horror

This week, we give you a round up that includes some truly laugh-out-loud photos, how one PhotoShelter member is giving back to the Colorado communities effected by flooding, and a great workshop opportunity hosted by a few amazing lifestyle photographers.

It’s that time again

Okay, maybe it’s a little early for Halloween decorations to come out, but it’s never too early to have a laugh at the Nightmares Fear Factory  photos of their attendees scared out of their minds. For the third year in a row they’ve installed a camera to flash at the most terrifying moment of their haunted house. (via Mashable)

PhotoShelter Member Gives Back to the Colorado Communities Effected By Flooding

Photographer Ryan Wright, based out of Boulder CO, has been helping families effected by the flooding in northern Colorado both by volunteering his time and through his PhotoShelter website. While the waters have receded, the damage remains. Ryan decided to set up an easy way for people to help by donating to flood relief through his Photoshelter site. By purchasing downloads from his gallery “2013 Collection,” which is made up of  beautiful landscape images mostly taken in Colorado, buyers will be donating 100% of their payment to his church’s Flood Relief Fund and the Samaritan’s Purse. Free script from Fundy Software

Our friends at Fundy Software are giving the gift of a free script that allows you to split one photo into multiple pieces, allowing you to print images in a multi-frame or collage format. Before, both showing and creating an image split onto multiple canvases or metal prints was a major pain. This new script for PhotoShop makes the process a breeze, with 8 quick steps. Pretty cool if you ask us. (via Fundy Software)

Smartphone photo licensing platform PicsaStock is now live

Picsastock, launched this past February, has set out with the ambitious goal of creating the largest marketplace for companies to buy authentic footage and images all from your smart phone. They’ve promised 50% of sales revenue to go back to contributors, and during the beta phase  1000 photos per day were being uploaded from pro photographers worldwide. But are companies purchasing these images? Time will only tell. (via Photo Archive News)

Tried to take a look at PicsaStock but you can’t view anything on the site — blog, about, etc. — without registering first. That’s really annoying and a non-starter as far as I am concerned.
