Luminance Talks Come to Photoville Again, Sept 19 -20th in Brooklyn

For the second year in a row, we’re thrilled to announce that  PhotoShelter is presenting six Luminance seminars at Photoville NYC!

Photoville’s pop up photo destination in the Uplands of Pier 5 in Brooklyn Bridge Park is an amazing place to hold these talks which will take place on the afternoons of Friday and Saturday, September 19 -20th, 2014. Check out directions to get there:

An offshoot of our 3-day Luminance conference back in 2012, these seminars will continue in the Luminance spirit by showcasing insights on exciting photography topics ranging from growing your business on Instagram and getting your photo project funded to panels on breaking into fashion photography and legal tips for photographers with questions on copyright to contracts. Also join us a for a free peer portfolio review happy hour on Friday, September 19th from 6pm – 7pm. More details below.

We’ve invited some of the most inventive, knowledgeable, and entertaining personalities in the photo community – including internationally renowned freelance photographer Robert Clark, National Geographic’s photo editor for science Kurt Mutchler, fashion photographer and BREED co-founder Melissa Rodwell, photo editor of The Huffington Post Anna Dickson, Kristine Hsu, Attorney for the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, Dianne Debicella, Senior Program Director at Fractured Atlas – plus more! In the true Luminance spirit, we’re pairing speakers of different backgrounds and viewpoints on the same panels, so you’ll get the full spectrum of ideas and insights.

Peer Review and Happy Hour

Bring your book (or iPad), grab a beer, and get ready to get and give some unbiased feedback on your and your peers’ portfolios in this informal peer portfolio review event hosted by PhotoShelter. Think of it as a portfolio review without the pressure of being in front of a potential buyer – or like speed dating for photographers! You’ll give your feedback on a few portfolios, you’ll get some on yours, and we guarantee you’ll walk away with some new ideas – and feel good about helping out fellow photographers. What’s better than that? The event takes place in the Photoville Beer Garden – and the first drink is on us!
