It didn’t take long for photographer Nathan Armes to reveal the secrets behind his customized Facebook fan page. I mentioned his “Facebook Facelift” in a blog post on Saturday, and today he created a blog post of his own (complete with illustrative graphics and snippets of code) that explains exactly how he was able to pull it off.

Nathan’s Facebook page now has his own company logo; social media buttons (for Twitter, LinkedIn, and Tumblr); a PhotoShelter slideshow that showcases his portfolio; a “Welcome Page”; and very obvious contact information.

He even included a link for his “Photo Archive” which contains even more embedded PhotoShelter slideshows that highlight his specialties. (For example, “US National Parks”; “The Obama Inauguration – Washington, D.C.”; “Colorado Beer Industry”; and seven others. People never have to leave Facebook to see all of this.

As people are watching the slideshows, if they click on an image at any time, they are taken directly to his PhotoShelter website, where they can download the image and buy a Rights-Managed usage license.

This is a great example of how a photographer can make the most of a Facebook page. Thanks for sharing, Nathan.

If this is something you want to do with your own Facebook page, you can learn how to do it by visiting his blog.
