When I was younger, I loved getting some new electronics and then spending hours figuring it out. But when I purchased a new flat screen TV last year, I hired an AV expert to install it for me reasoning that 1) there’s too many cables, remotes and standards to worry about and 2) I’d rather be doing other things with my time than crawling around trying to get the TV to work.

In this instance, the decision was a quality of life issue. Could I have done it? Sure. Should I have done it? No way.

That sentiment is what led us to create the PhotoShelter Certified Consultant program last year. We realized that PhotoShelter has become a pretty big application with lots of different features from print sales to photo walls to manually customizing your website. If you’re busy running your photo business, you probably don’t want to watch me walk you through 20 hours of instructional videos.

So we’re psyched to expand the program with new consultants as Grover pointed out last week. And we thought we’d give you a few examples of their work, so you can better understand the value of working with one of the certified consultants.

Mike Cavaroc starts us off with his newest website implementation for nature photographer Tom Weidemeyer. He has a cool arched navigation that plays with the “T” in Tom’s logo, which sits above a Photo Wall.

David Brabyn has very busy with a variety of projects for the PhotoShelter community. First, a WordPress design integration for adventure sport photographer Jody Macdonald, who pretty much seems to have a job that I’d like. Her surf photography appears to be much more successful than mine. David also worked on a pro bono project to raise funds for injured war photographer Joao Silva, whose tragic/inspiring story continues to unfold.

I gotta be honest. I was pleasantly surprised when I came across this design by UK-based Steve Fox, one of our new consultants. Steve implemented the design for izmostock, an automobile stock agency, and he used the Photo Wall in a most unusual way. Because all the images are shot against seamless, he was able to blend the images together while using the “bi-level” feature to fit large and small images into a catalog style format. That isn’t one large image — it’s 18 different images all linked to different galleries. Cheerio, mate!

Our first Eastern European consultant joins us from Romania. Alexandru Vita has been designing and coding websites for year, and recently jumped on the PhotoShelter bandwagon. He’s started a number of projects, but in the meantime, he wins the prize for best page to explain his PhotoShelter consulting services. We also thought he was smart for including his refer-a-friend code.

Finally, St. Louis-based concert photographer Todd Owyoung brings a wealth of knowledge to the table for integrating WordPress blogs with your PhotoShelter site. Not only that, Todd has built an entire secondary revenue stream by amassing quite a following for his equipment reviews which link to various retailer affiliate programs. In other words, he might be able to give you some business advice too.
