I mentioned this on Twitter afew days ago, but in order for anyone to actually gain any referrals, the referral offer has to be better than the basic “new customer” offer. As it stands a new customer or a referral wanting to trial Photoshelter before diving in can either pay $1 or $22.99, which one are they going to pick? I’ve had about 3 or 4 different people request a referral code only to realise that the $1 for 14 days offer is far more beneficial to them. I don’t think there’s anyone in the world that would pay $22.99 for something they could get for $1. The $1 offer makes sense as new customers don’t want to trial it, not like it and then have wasted money. It doesn’t help that the $1 offer is displayed on the referral page either and if customers pick this offer instead your referral is lost. Surely it’s obvious that new signups/people who want to trial the system are going to pick that offer?
