Friday Happy Hour: Veterans Edition

Friday Happy Hour: Veterans Edition

Today we honor the Veterans who have served our country, and our Servicemen and Women who are serving at home and abroad today. For those of us who have not worn the uniform, we take this day to acknowledge and remember those that have.

“Serving Abroad…Through Their Eyes” is a new project led by the U.S. State and Defense Departments to collect and present a visual record of Service member’s experiences from duty abroad. 1,000 photos will be chosen from an open submission to be displayed in photography exhibitions at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Pentagon, and other prominent venues. All photographers are welcomed to submit images to this historic exhibition – details can be found here.

For today, here is a short collection of Veteran images from some of PhotoShelter’s members:

Ronald T. Bennett captures an intimate moment at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial: A veteran looks at the names of fellow soldiers on the Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. The memorial honors members of the U.S. armed forces who fought in the Vietnam War, service members who died in service in Vietnam/South East Asia, and those service members who were unaccounted for during the War.
