The Corporate Guy
This print is for the guy (or gal) that’s always at the office and needs something nice to look at on the walls. The image is all at once soothing and motivational – perfect eye-candy for those long days spent staring at a glaring computer screen. Those wishing they had pursued their dream of being a cowboy should check out more from Wild West Media.
“I’d Rather Be At The Beach”
Skip the quintessential and over-played palm tree photo and check out this print from Jen Edney Photography. Jen has been sailing the world for the past two years photographing in over 30 countries. This particular photo was taken in the Bahamas – wish we were there right now!
The Foodie
This is a beautiful fall food photo taken by The Picture Kitchen‘s Marie-Louise Avery. Foodies of all types will appreciate the raw but sensual print showcasing braised young artichokes with onions, garlic, herbs, and red wine. Yum!
Risk Taker
This photo is for someone who thinks getting lost is fun; food is bland without a dash of hot sauce or red pepper; and the unknown is the most exciting. Photojournalist Poras Chaudhary is native to India, giving him special appreciation for the striking colors and compositions found in southern Asia.
Budding Art Buyer
Photography can be an art – there’s no doubt about it. But there are certain photos that we speak about as art more readily than others. This HDR image by Walter Arnold is good for the beginner art buyer who’s looking for something special to start his or her collection.
Travel Bug
You know when you’ve got the travel bug: it’s a life-long, often incurable ailment that gives you the urge to travel at every possible opportunity. Those afflicted with the travel bug have an ever-growing list of places they need to visit. In the meantime, your travel bug will appreciate a quality print of his or her favorite destination – this one by Matt Brandon is of the water in Varanasi, India.
Pet Lover
“Awwww!” We know you just said it. Images of puppies tug at our heartstrings, and this one by Alicia Kidd is no different. Show your pet lover that you care with this freakin’ adorable print of a French bulldog.
Addicted To Adrenaline
For adventure lovers everywhere, we have selected this incredible close-up of a surfer riding behind the curling lip of a giant wave. There’s a lot more where that came from by Chris Van Lennep. Surfs up, dude!
Sports Fiend
You don’t have to be a rugby fan to appreciate the humor in this photo by sports photographer Tim Clayton (check out the team captain’s head poking out below). It’s an excellent shot that captures both the fun and athleticism in sports.
The Optimist
Landscape photography evokes a certain sense of serenity and opportunity, so for the optimist in your life we have this mystical panoramic print by Robin Utrecht. This particular image was taken in Monument Valley, Arizona, with some really eye-catching colors that will look nice anywhere.
Music Snob
Instead of opting for the generic band poster from allposters.com, why not get something special this year? Todd Owyoung captured this intimate shot of Drake during a live performance. Let your gift recipient relive his or her best live music experience with a unique shot taken by a professional concert photographer.
Fashion Obsessed
Tacking cut-outs from fashion magazine on your wall was fine when we were teenagers, but as adults we deserve something a little more mature. Fashionistas everywhere will appreciate this print by Per Zennstrom for its chic composure and high-quality styling.
Friend Of Nature
Nature prints are a classic gift – they look great as wall art no matter what your home decor style is. The vibrant colors of Jeffrey Murray‘s image, in his words, “look better than the actual scene.” The white tree trunks effectively reflected the deep blue sky of the day.
Abstract Artie
We love photos where nothing is actually as it seems, and Glen Allison’s print captures just that. If you have someone who never considered photography as an abstract art, then this print is for them.
History Buff
Documentary photography can stir emotions and make us think deeply about both past and current events. This print is especially moving because it’s tied to a good cause, Friends of Anton. The organization was started to support the three children of photographer Anton Hammerl, who went missing while working in Libya during the recent conflict. Buy a gift and donate to a worthy cause at the same time – what’s more holiday spirited than that?
I absolutely love the rugby shot by Tim Clayton, which shines brilliantly amongst the other selections. But I really can’t see why Walter’s print would appeal to a budding art buyer when it’s available to buy at any quantity in a range of 10 sizes and various finishes. That’s more akin to a gift shop, Etsy, etc. I know several skilled photographers on Photoshelter who offer carefully managed editions of their work, more valuable from a collector’s point of view.
Such great photos and an awesome idea being a photographer I’m now wondering how did I not think of this!
