We’re partnering with ImageBrief, the industry’s smart alternative to photo libraries, to curate a photography exhibition for Luminance 2012 – PhotoShelter’s exciting new conference this September 12-13. To do that, we’re holding a photography competition and we want you to submit!

Three winners will receive $1,200 cash and have their photos prominently displayed at Luminance, where hundreds of conference attendees – photo buyers, designers, creatives, and fellow photographers – will see them. We’re announcing the competition’s details next week, but we want you to be ready to go when we’re open for submissions.

Here’s how it works: Participants must submit their entries through ImageBrief for consideration, which means that you’ll need to create a completely free ImageBrief account before you submit your photos.  In order to be processed quickly, be sure to include “PHOTOSHELTER” in the “Tell Us About Yourself” section of the application.

ImageBrief is a new marketplace that connects commercial photographers with image buyers – buyers post briefs online and photographers submit images that they already have in their archives that fit the brief. The buyer then selects the photo(s) they want to license and the photographer gets paid (photographers retain 70% of the total amount). Buyers are encouraged to pay a fair price for good work, and a price that reflects the usage they required. If not, ImageBrief educates them on market value or invites them to buy a royalty-free image elsehwere.

Early next week, we’ll be putting out a brief for our photography competition via ImageBrief – only those photographers registered on ImageBrief will be able to submit and be considered for the $1,200 cash prize. Registered participants will receive an alert and can respond to the brief with their entries.

Register today and be on the lookout for more information!  And don’t forget to include “PHOTOSHELTER” in your bio to get processed as a member in time for the competition!
