Every week, we compile our favorite photos from Lattice, our new destination for people who love photography. You can use Lattice to discover beautiful images and also curate boards on topics you’re passionate about.

This week, we chose to showcase great stomach-rumbling examples of food photography. These images were found in boards curated with varying food themes from street food to desserts to famous food couples.

Start drooling:

We begin with this photo of coffee and donuts by Jonathan Gayman. Shooting directly from above, the coffee mugs begin to blend in with the variety of delicious-looking pastries, creating an interesting composition. You can find this and other images of great food pairings in the Famous Food Couples board, curated by Jon Gorman.

Next, we jump onto the street and this salivating shot of a gourmet hot dog by Alison Cornford-Matheson. I’ve never craved a hot dog so badly before. Check out this Street Food board by our very own, Andrew Fingerman, to get a taste of everything from waffles in Belgium to crickets in China.

Now it’s time to evoke the rustic in you, and sit down with a hearty chicken salad sandwich, beer and all, in this shot by Nicole Branan. Go into a secret room if you need to and gawk at more photos like this found in the Tantalizing Food Shots board by Jorge Malo, a commercially-established food photographer.

It wouldn’t be a complete post on food photography without dessert, so here is a mouth-watering shot of tiramisu by Maurizio Lodi. By photographing it in a glass bowl, all layers of the dish are made visible, making for a much more compelling shot. Satisfy your sweet tooth eye, with many more photos like this in Ruby Ahn’s Desserts board on Lattice.

Finally, for the healthy ones out there, here is a beautiful photo of red currants, taken by Gabriel Giglio. There’s a great relationship between the complementary green bokeh and the red berries, which makes this shot all the more vibrant. Satisfy your berry craving in this colorful Berries board curated by Corina Daniela Obertas.

Food photography goes far beyond the recent #FoodPorn trend on Instagram, and there is a lot that goes into the making of great photos such as the ones featured here. Want to take a stab at food photography, or just improve your current methods? Check out a recent blog post we wrote, Back to Basics: Food Photography Lighting & Styling.
