Software engineer Vahe Hovhannisyan noticed the love affair that some San Francisco residents have with their bikes. After picking up a DSLR in 2014, he started photographing “bikesters” – a term he uses to describe people for whom a bike is an extension of their fashionable self.
On his Instagram account, Hovhannisyan features a range of bikers – from competitive to the downright silly – but most recently he’s been roaming the Black Rock Desert capturing the weird, wacky and beautiful people riding bikes at Burning Man.
Instagram just got way cooler by supporting #portrait / #landscape photos. This is the biggest Instagram change ever. I didn't know they also changed the size of the photos to 1080px a week ago. It's also a huge improvement, you can tell by the quality of this photo compared to my older ones. This will be my last #burningman photo until I take more. Have fun at the #playa #blackrockcity
