See You At PhotoPlus Expo? Here’s Where We’ll Be

Every year, we look forward to October. It’s that time when PhotoPlus Expo takes over the Javits Center in NYC and we get to hang out with people who are as obsessed with photography as we are.

The Expo kicks off on Thursday, October 26th and runs through Saturday, October 28th. If you’ve never been, you must check it out. Known as the “biggest photography event in North America,” this is a chance to see all the latest gear and hear a full day of topics related to growing your photo business. We’ve been involved with PPE in some capacity for the past few years, and always have a blast. One year we had our own booth, another year we gave out popcorn to attendees, other years we’ve hosted photo business seminars. Whatever we do, the best part is always seeing our industry friends and catching up with PhotoShelter photographers.

Here’s what we’re up to this year:

1. Our CEO Andrew Fingerman will be giving a talk on “Building An Audience In The Age of Distraction” on 10/26, offering tips to attract and build an audience. Anyone with a seminar pass can attend.
   
2. Our Chairman Allen Murabayashi will be part of a discussion, “Eyes of the Machines: How Will Smarter Devices Help Photographers?” on October 25th. The talk will focus on how the evolution of technology (computational photography, advances in processing, etc) is affecting photographers’ artistic expression today.
   
3. We’ll be hosting our annual PhotoPlus Expo Happy Hour with our friends at Agency Access. Come by Social Bar & Lounge on Thursday, October 26th from 6 pm – 8 pm. It’s free, just register here.
   
4. For the first time, with the help of PPE, we’re giving away ten 1-Day Conference passes (a $399 value) to a select group of photographers who attend our Third Thursdays discussions. Third Thursdays is a panel series we host at our office each month, where we welcome photographers and industry experts who share insights on everything from pricing to marketing to what buyers want from photographers.
